Back to School Family Bash
Sometime over Labor Day Weekend have a Back to School Family Bash, even if your kids are already back...do it.
Make sure there are lots of goodies, games and noise. Let your kids enjoy hanging out with their siblings and parents.
The first time that my husband and I did this with our now adult children was Sunday of the weekend....at first there was not much enthusiasm, I'll admit. But it became more of a regular Sunday night family activity to the point of the kids looking forward to it.
Added to the festivities was the setting of a goal or motto for the coming school year and praying for a successful school year.
The book of Proverbs, was our family's source for the motto; it's a great book teaching the joy and the essential quality of wisdom; there are 31 chapters..one for each day.
Prayer does not have to be stodgy, sterile and boring. It is exciting...don't turn it into a religious thing..think of prayer as talking to the God of Creation and listening to Him talking to you in His Word...He loves your children more than you do and wants to have a personal relationship with you all. When He says, " I'll never leave you or forsake you HE MEANS IT!!
You can begin tomorrow, September 1. Proverbs Chapter 1 verse 9 Living Bible Translation," How does a young man or woman become wise? The first step is to trust and reverence the Lord."..What else do you see written here; let me know what you found.
Continuing in Him,
Miss Huldah
